## Formula

`volume = length × width × thickness · bags = ⌈volume ÷ yield per bag⌉`

1. Convert thickness into the same unit as length and width (inches ÷ 12 → feet; centimeters ÷ 100 → meters).
2. Multiply length × width × thickness to get volume in cubic feet or cubic meters.
3. Divide cubic feet by 27 to get cubic yards — ready-mix is ordered in yards.
4. Divide the volume by your bag's yield (0.60 ft³ for 80 lb, 0.45 for 60 lb, 0.30 for 40 lb, ≈12.5 L for 25 kg) and round up to whole bags.
5. Add 5–10% waste for spillage, uneven subgrade, and slab-edge overpour.

4. With 10% waste: 33.33 × 1.10 = 36.67 ft³ → 36.67 ÷ 0.60 = 61.1 → 62 bags

### How many 80 lb bags of concrete make a cubic yard?

45 bags. A cubic yard is 27 cubic feet and an 80 lb bag yields about 0.60 ft³ of mixed concrete, so 27 ÷ 0.60 = 45. For 60 lb bags it is 60 bags (27 ÷ 0.45), and for 40 lb bags 90 (27 ÷ 0.30).

### How many 25 kg bags of concrete make a cubic meter?

About 80 bags. One 25 kg bag of dry mix yields roughly 12.5 L of placed concrete at ~2,000 kg/m³ mixed density, and 1,000 ÷ 12.5 = 80. Yields vary by brand — check the number printed on your bag.

### When should I order ready-mix instead of mixing bags?
