Tenon Calc — Privacy Policy

Last updated:

Nothing you make in Tenon Calc leaves your phone. Your calculations, your saved tape, your projects and the quote PDFs you export are written to the device and are never uploaded — the only way one leaves is when you send it yourself through the iOS or Android share sheet. There is no account, no sign-in, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. The app does contact the network for exactly three narrow things, listed in full below: it checks whether an app update exists, it reports crashes so the next version is steadier, and it confirms your purchase with the store. None of the three carries a calculation, a client name, a price or a quote.

This policy covers the mobile app Tenon Calc on iOS and Android. The tenon.tools website is covered separately by the site privacy notice, which describes different processing — a web server log, analytics under Consent Mode, and the waitlist. The two documents are deliberately not merged: the app and the website do genuinely different things, and one combined page would describe neither accurately.

It is written to be checked rather than to be agreed to. Each network destination below is named, along with what is sent to it and what is not. The list is derived from the app's own source tree by a check that runs on every build, so a new destination cannot be added to the app without appearing here.

Who is responsible

Tenon Calc is made by Erkam Demirci, an independent software developer established in Türkiye, trading as Tenon Tools. There is no company data department and no sales team; the person who answers a privacy question is the person who wrote the code.

For privacy questions, corrections, or any request under the rights listed further down, use the contact route on the Tenon Tools support page at tenon.tools/support.

What stays on your device, always

Everything you create is stored locally and is never transmitted. That is not a policy promise layered on top of a server — there is no server for it to go to. Tenon Calc has no backend, no cloud sync and no account system.

  • Every calculation you perform, and its inputs
  • The saved history — the "paperless tape"
  • Saved projects, and any client or job name you type into one
  • Prices, quantities, waste factors and every other number you enter
  • Quote PDFs you generate, including your business name and your logo
  • Your settings, including units, the metric/imperial choice and defaults

The three things that do use the network

Each row below names a destination, what is sent, and when. Nothing in any row contains a calculation, a saved project, a client name, a price or a quote PDF.

Every outbound connection Tenon Calc makes
DestinationWhenWhat is sent
Expo Updates (u.expo.dev), operated by Expo, United StatesOn each cold launch of a release buildThe project identifier, the build''s runtime fingerprint, the release channel, the platform and the app version. If a JavaScript update is available, it is downloaded. No identifier of you is sent.
Sentry (o4509702119227392.ingest.us.sentry.io), operated by Functional Software Inc., United StatesWhen the app crashes, and once per app sessionCrash reports and release-health sessions: the stack trace, device model, operating-system version, app version and the breadcrumb trail leading to the crash. IP attachment is switched off in the app''s configuration (sendDefaultPii is false) and no user record is ever set. Performance tracing is switched off entirely in release builds.
RevenueCat, operated by RevenueCat Inc., United StatesOn cold launch, and when you open the purchase screen, buy, or restoreAn anonymous installation identifier generated by the purchase SDK, the store''s own receipt or purchase token, the product identifier, and device, OS and app-version metadata. The app has no accounts and therefore hands it no identifier of yours. It is used to answer one question: has this device bought Tenon Calc Pro.

What Tenon Calc does not do

These are absences worth stating explicitly, because most apps in this category do the opposite.

  • No advertising, no ad network and no ad SDK of any kind
  • No tracking as Apple defines it — nothing is linked with third-party data for advertising, and nothing is shared with a data broker
  • No analytics product, no attribution SDK and no marketing pixel
  • No account, no sign-in, no email address collected in the app
  • No contacts, no photo library access, no microphone, no location — the app requests none of these permissions
  • No sale or sharing of personal information, under any definition, ever

Children

Tenon Calc is a professional tool for construction trades and is not directed at children. It collects no information intended to identify anyone, and it has no account system through which a child could register. Its age rating declares no objectionable content of any kind.

Legal basis, retention and international transfer

Where the GDPR or the UK GDPR applies, the crash reporting and update checks rest on legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) — keeping a paid, offline tool from crashing on the device you rely on, and delivering fixes to it. Purchase validation rests on performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)): confirming what you bought is the thing you bought it for. There is no consent-based processing in the app because there is no advertising or analytics to consent to.

The three processors named above are established in the United States and each publishes its own retention schedule and transfer mechanism; Tenon Tools holds no copy of that data on its own infrastructure and operates no database of app users. Because the app collects no identifier of you, a request about a specific person generally cannot be matched to a record — which is a consequence of collecting nothing, not an evasion.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Use the support page to make a request.

In practice the fastest remedy for most concerns is in your own hands and needs no request at all: deleting the app removes every calculation, project and quote it holds, because all of them live only on your device. Purchase records are held by Apple or Google and by RevenueCat, not by Tenon Tools, and are governed by the store''s own terms.

Changes to this policy

The date at the top of this page is the date it last changed. Because the network table above is generated against the app''s source on every build, a change to what the app sends cannot ship without this page changing with it.

Frequently asked questions

Do my calculations or quotes ever get uploaded?

No. Calculations, saved history, projects and quote PDFs are written to your device and never transmitted. A quote leaves only when you send it yourself through the share sheet.

Does Tenon Calc work without a network connection?

Yes, completely. Every calculator, the saved tape and PDF quote export all work with no signal. The three network uses listed above are the app checking for an update, reporting a crash, and confirming a purchase.

Does Tenon Calc show ads or track me?

No. There is no ad network, no analytics product and no attribution SDK in the app, and nothing it sends is linked with third-party data for advertising or shared with a data broker.

What happens to my data if I delete the app?

It is gone, because it was only ever on the device. Your purchase is held by Apple or Google and can be restored on a new install with the Restore Purchases button.

Tenon Calc produces estimates. Results that touch a building-code limit say so on the same screen and tell you to verify against your local code. This page describes data handling and is not legal advice.
